Original & moving dystopian fiction for young readers aged 12+

This award-winning story, translated from Welsh, is at once tender and tragic.

Manon Steffan Ros's bold, simple style had us gripped from the first page to the last. We sent this book to our Macaw subscribers in April 2022 and were delighted when it was revealed as the winner of the Yoto Carnegie Medal for Writing 2023

~Emily

Dylan was six when The End came, when the electricity went off for good, and the ‘normal’ 21st-century world he knew disappeared. Now he’s 14 and he and his mam have survived in their isolated hilltop house above the Welsh village of Nebo, learning new skills, and returning to old ways of living. But they each have their own secrets, which emerge as, in turn, they jot down their thoughts and memories in the Blue Book of Nebo.

Manon Steffan Ros is a Welsh novelist, playwright, games author, scriptwriter and musician. She is the author of over twenty children's books and three novels for adults, all in Welsh.

A great,indulging story.

It was an amazing book and I really like the concept of The End. You can really connect to Rowena’s tales about love and life before The End and it adds that extra little something to the plot. Overall it is an amazing read and I will definitely recommend this book to my friends. This is a must read book for 10 to 11 year olds!👍
