Inspiring children to love reading
Our small business began as a children's book subscription service, producing monthly book and activity boxes for subscribers.
More recently we’ve expanded and become a specialist online children’s bookshop stocking high quality chapter books, graphic novels and bookish gifts.
Meet the Parrot Street Book Club team
Parrot Street Book Club was founded in 2017 by Sarah and Emily, who met at school aged eleven and went on to co-found a club where children could explore stories, enjoy fun activities, and fall in love with reading.
Today, the Parrot Street Book Club is managed by Madeleine, who also runs Wee Bookworms. She enjoys picking the books for her readers and also loves creating the activity packs, making every subscription a fun, hands-on reading adventure. Madeleine is passionate about sharing the magic of books, sparking imagination, and making reading exciting for every child.
Madeleine Neilly
Madeleine lives in Northern Ireland and has worked in children’s learning and education, as well as the children’s book industry, for many years.
She takes great pleasure in selecting the books for her readers and helping to create the activity packs, making every subscription a fun, hands-on reading adventure.
A keen animal lover, she enjoys spending her free time reading, getting creative with arts and crafts, and taking long walks along the beach.

Behind every Parrot Street parcel is a team of amazing helpers! They help pick and pack the books and activity packs, making sure each box is ready to bring a little magic to your doorstep.
From carefully selecting and checking each book and activity pack to adding those thoughtful little touches that make every subscription feel extra special, our Parrot Street Helpers make sure every parcel is perfectly prepared.

The research is clear: reading for pleasure helps our kids develop imagination and creativity, along with a whole range of moral, intellectual, emotional and social skills.
As passionate readers we always wanted to encourage our own kids to love reading. And yet, we found many digital distractions competing for their time and attention.
