Make your own comic strip

Coloured pens in a jar

The book we’ve sent our Cockatoos this month features a famous comic book creator and his son’s attempts to follow in his footsteps. We love sharing comic strips and graphic novels with our own children (find some of our recommendations here) but know that creating our own can be just as fun!

At its most basic, you simply need to draw a grid on a piece of paper and plot your story out across the rectangles. But to make things a bit more fun we’ve created this fun comic strip template for you to download and have a go with.

You might want to follow these steps:

  1. Choose a main character and work out a simple plot.
  2. Create the outline drawings in each box.
  3. Add any speech bubbles or text.
  4. Finish off by colouring in the comic strip.

We would love to see how you get on, so please share and tag us in your photos or email them to us.
