8 killer gift ideas for boys age 8+

As a mother of boys, I know how hard it can be to come up with gift ideas that don’t involve Lego, football or super expensive digital gadgets. Why are girls so much easier to buy for? It won’t surprise you to hear that my go-to gift for friends and family is a pile of books, but if you’re looking for some alternative ideas, here are some fantastic gifts for boys aged 8+ from some of our favourite independent brands and retailers:

The HUH? t-shirt by What Ted Wore
The phrase I hear 3 million times a day! This bright blue cotton t-shirt with machine embroidered HUH? slogan makes a brilliant stocking filler.

We love Lella’s range of quirky hoodies, sweatshirts and t-shirts. This slogan hoodie is available in two colour ways in sizes up to age 15.

The Mind card game from Zatu Games
Zatu is our go-to retailer for the best family board games. This year our top pick is The Mind, a brilliant co-operative card game for 2 to 4 players.

Harry Potter poster by Law & Moore
Perfect for fans of the books and movies! Law & Moore’s range of TV, film and music-inspired posters are available in a range of sizes and can be sent ready framed to make it even easier.

The Starter Set skin care by Spots & Stripes
I spent months looking for the perfect kids’ deodorant and then I found these ethically sourced and beautifully packaged skin care products for teens and tweens, which I highly recommend.

The RUN series by Jason Reynolds
Ok, so I couldn’t let a gift guide go by without including a book! This series, published by Knights Of, one of our favourite independent children’s publishers, has been a huge hit with my boys.
P.S. Our book subscriptions, past packs and gift sets also make great gifts for both boys and girls. In particular for this age group we highly recommend these titles, which are both available as individual packs or as part of a fantastic gift set:

A gripping, thought-provoking thriller in which Albion is on the brink of war and one boy must fight for his family and his future.

Future Hero: Race to Fire Mountain by Remi Blackwood
This adrenaline-fuelled adventure is the first in an exciting new series that blends futuristic tech with African mythology.
