About the book

Orla lives alone, isolated from her community with only her garden for company. When her beloved plants are blamed for a mysterious sickness, she must find a cure and uncover some terrible truths to save her garden.

Armed only with her mother’s book of remedies Orla sets out on a barge-boat… but she’s not the only stowaway. With the rapids of the River Inkwater ahead, three children set a dangerous course from which they may never return...

About the author

Yarrow Townsend spent her childhood among the moss, oak and heather of the New Forest. Always in search of ways to be closer to the outdoors, Yarrow now lives on a narrowboat, travelling the canals with her garden on the roof. The Map of Leaves is inspired by her life by the woods and the water.

About the activity pack

It includes book club-style questions to ponder, instructions for creating a nature weaving and a floral-inspired drawing activity. There’s also a recipe for cheese dumplings and facts about medicinal plants alongside a word search, jokes and further reading recommendations.

Activity packs are a handy A5 size and printed on uncoated paper which is fully recyclable.
Our packs are wrapped in a simple paper sleeve and sent out in a cardboard book wrap – we would be so grateful if you could recycle both.
