Make a penguin bookmark

Finished penguin bookmark on a page

You will need:

  • A sheet of white paper
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Coloured pencils or pens
  • Glue

1. Fold the piece of paper in half.

2. Using the crease you made in step 1 as the bottom edge, draw the rounded triangle shape of a penguin’s body.

3. Cut out the penguin shape and then cut along the crease so you have two identical shapes.

4. On one of the shapes sketch the shape of a penguin’s head and two wings. Once you’re happy cut out this new shape.

5. Decorate the penguin’s head and wings using your pens.

6. Decorate the other penguin shape to be the penguin’s tummy. Lay the head on top to check that the bookmark will look like a penguin when assembled.

7. To assemble the bookmark put glue on the back of the penguin’s head only (not the wings!) and stick it to the body. Your finished penguin will now slide onto a book page with its wings on one side and body behind!
