Our favourite books of 2018

Girl reading book among autumn leaves

We recently launched a competition on our Instagram page, all about our favourite books of 2018. Having thought back through the year we came up with these 10 fabulous titles which we’ve particularly enjoyed sharing with our families. Some are new books, others are old favourites and all of them would make a fantastic present under the tree this Christmas:

The Spectacular Holly-Day, The Hundred and One Dalmations and Engineering Activity Book

1. The Spectacular Holly-Day by Dave Lowe

We just can’t get enough of this series and especially Holly’s adventurous spirit!

2. The Hundred and One Dalmations by Dodie Smith

This is one of our favourite children’s books of all time and this gorgeous edition is illustrated by the fantastic Alex T Smith.

3. Engineering Activity Book from b small publishing

This provided hours of entertainment for our budding little engineers. Perfect for ages 7-9.

4. Who Let the Gods Out by Maz Evans

This laugh out loud bestseller provided hours of entertainment over the summer holidays.

5. Oliver and the Seawigs by Philip Reeve and Sarah McIntyre

Another old favourite, we’ve enjoyed this book again and again over the years.

6. Fantastically Great Women Who Changed the World by Kate Pankhurst

We read this during the celebrations to mark 100 years of women’s suffrage and it makes a fantastic addition to any child’s bookshelf.

Hilo: The Boy Who Crashed to Earth, Mango and Bambang: Superstar Tapir and Ted Rules the World

7. Hilo: The Boy Who Crashed to Earth by Judd Winick

Beautifully illustrated and packed full of family-friendly activities this was a fantastic book to dip in and out of during the school holidays.
